Mossel Bay coastline and Linkside suburb from the air

Mossel Bay beaches and the ocean

Mossel Bay faces east into a sheltered bay, so the water is calmer and warmer than most of the Cape coast and the beaches are safe for families for much of the year. Santos Beach, the closest to Villa Palmera, is 1.4 km away.

Santos Beach

The town beach, Blue Flag, north-facing and sheltered, with lifeguards in season, grass to picnic on and the harbour wall to walk along. Best for swimming with children and for watching the fishing boats come in.

Diaz Beach

A long stretch of hard sand running west from the Dias Museum, popular with dog walkers, runners and surfers. Best for long walks and for taking your dog.

De Bakke

Between Santos and the Point, with a tidal pool and grassy dunes. Quieter than Santos.

The Point

Rock pools, the sea-water pool, surfers at the reef and cafes on the road behind. Best for sunsets and the tidal pool.

On the water

Seal Island boat trips, sunset cruises from the harbour, kayaking from Santos and, for the brave, the ocean zipline across the bay - at 1.1 km the longest over-ocean zipline in the world. Andrea can book all of them.
